Here’s your chance! Here at CrossFit RUK we offer hands on internship program. We are located in the small rural community of Dodge City in Southwest Kansas. With a population of 28,159 we are the ideal place to get your coaching experience and build a solid foundation for a future in coaching CrossFit.
The internship program at CFRUK is quite organic – it does not run on specific dates, as we often tailor the program to the interns’ schedules, abilities, and readiness to coach. This program does not typically work well for students or people looking to accomplish the whole thing in a rigid time frame or as something to compliment outside interests. We are looking for people who are passionate and committed to the CrossFit RUK community and are interested in working at the gym as a coach.
This will primarily involve shadowing group classes, 1-on-1s, and Introductory Classes. Interns are required to keep detailed records of their hours (which classes and which coaches they shadowed) and balance their time between the different coaches. Monthly check ins with our Intern Program Directors Mario Martinez and Gilbert Still are required. The internship is largely self-directed and we seek out individuals who can take initiative, are excited, and are ready to learn.
CrossFit RUK’s Internship Program does not require the applicant to have a CrossFit Level 1 Certification. The aim of our program is to assist any applicant in attaining their certification during or after the completion of the program upon final performance review.
At CrossFit RUK everyone is someone no matter who, what or where they come from. It’s a destination away from everything else going on in our lives. It’s a family from another mother that gives support, accountability and education. It empowers us to become overall improved individuals.
We believe in a positive and fun environment. We believe that, to be effective in a long-term sense, exercise has to be enjoyable. It has to be constantly varied.
We are the entry way into a healthier, active lifestyle. That responsibility means introducing our clients to new activities, making them comfortable with working out in any environment, and giving them attributes they can display with pride.
We believe in HARD work. If it were easy everyone would be doing it. Our own hard work will be recognized by our clients and friends, and will encourage them to work harder in the face of challenge. We believe in virtuosity- doing the common, uncommonly well. Beauty…Grace…Ease… Effortlessness… Joy…and when done in the midst of a CrossFit workout, while under the pressure of the stopwatch-true mastery.
We believe in the long haul. Continual progress is necessary for self-actualization; if you’re not moving ahead, you’re falling behind. We set milestones and celebrate when they’re reached. And then we reach further together.
We believe it’s just as important to train for ski trip as a triathlon. Proper, smart preparedness increases the satisfaction derived from any activity, including mental preparation.
We believe in science. We believe in ongoing education. We are committed to the peer review process, the application of cutting-edge science, the debunking of myths, and the benefits of active debate and discussion.
Above all, we believe in ourselves and our clients. We will be successful together, we are the BEST!
CrossFit RUK believes in hiring responsible people with integrity and accountability. We want individuals who are willing to work hard even when no one is watching. A CrossFit RUK coach must be unselfish, knowledgeable, professional, diligent and have a never-ending-thirst-for-learning and knowledge. We feel those who are energetic, internally driven, and passionate about CrossFit will make the best addition to our coaching family.
CrossFit RUK aims to be the CrossFit hub of Western Kansas and we feel that in order to accomplish this we must be have the proper pieces in place to create a gym that people will talk about with high regard.
The CrossFit RUK internship is a 6 month program. This program will allow the intern as well as CrossFit RUK to discover if the relationship is a good fit. A performance evaluation will be done after every 30 days. After every evaluation we will meet and discuss what was observed at that time. We want the intern to be successful and therefore we will point out positives and things that need to be modified at this time.
